Jeffrey Robinson nasceu em Long Beach, Estados Unidos, em 1945. Trabalhou como jornalista freelance para diversos órgãos de comunicação social americanos e ingleses antes de se estabelecer como escritor de ficção e não-ficção. Atualmente, divide o tempo entre Nova Iorque e Londres mas viveu durante mais de uma década no Sul de França, onde conheceu a família Grimaldi e conseguiu o feito inédito de garantir a sua autorização para a escrita da biografia da princesa Grace. O príncipe Rainier garantiu a sua total colaboração e fez uma única exigência: "Conte a verdade".
