Jean-Noël Tronc começou a sua carreira na área da informática numa empresa americana. Depois, tornou-se conselheiro de Lionel Jospin para o digital, foi diretor-geral da Orange e presidente do Conselho de Administração do Canal+ Overseas. Desde 2012, dirige a Sociedade de Autores, Compositores e Editores de Música (Sacem), uma das maiores sociedades de direito de autor do mundo.
