Jack L. Chalker

(1944), Baltimore, Maryland. Quando ainda estava na escola começou a escrever para uma revista amadora de ficção científica e em 1960 integrou a revista Mirage. Um ano mais tarde fundou a Mirage Press, uma editora especializada em ficção científica e fantasia, cobrindo áreas também da não ficção. O seu primeiro romance, A Jungle of Stars foi publicado em 1976, e dois anos mais tarde tornou-se escritor a tempo inteiro, atingindo grande popularidade com Midnight at the Well of Souls. É um orador conceituado em ficção científica e fantasia em numerosas universidades e um amante da natureza que gosta de viajar, de electrónica e de computadores.
