PRÉMIO NOBEL DA LITERATURA 1922

Dramaturgo espanhol (1866-1954) galardoado com o Prémio Nobel da Literatura em 1922. Cultivou todos os géneros teatrais e foi um dos primeiros dramaturgos espanhóis do século XX. Efetuando crítica social, tornou o drama realista. Entre os seus trabalhos mais célebres contam- se Los malhechores del bien (1905), La noche del sábado (1903) e La malquerida (1913). Esta última peça foi a que obteve maior sucesso em Espanha e nas Américas. Trata-se de uma tragédia rural que aborda o tema do incesto.
