Jørn Lier Horst (1970) é um dos principais escritores de policiais da Noruega. Foi inspetor-chefe da Polícia e conhece bem o meio e os métodos sobre os quais escreve. Os seus livros são, por isso, um retrato fiel do dia a dia de um agente da polícia, tanto no que diz respeito às rotinas, quanto às emoções e conflitos.
Ganhou fama literária com os thrillers que têm o detetive William Wisting como protagonista, uma multipremiada série a que atingiu todos os tops de vendas e que foi adaptada para televisão. Em Portugal estão publicados os seus livros Fechada para o Inverno (Prémio dos Livreiros da Noruega 2011), Cães de Caça (Prémio Riverton/ Revólver Dourado 2012, Prémio Chave de Vidro 2013 e Prémio Martin Beck 2014), O Homem das Cavernas (Prémio Petrona 2016) e A Porta Oculta; e os livros da série Blix Ponto Zero e Cortina de Fumo, escritos a quatro mãos com Thomas Enger. E ainda, O Código Katharina (Prémio Petrona 2019), o anterior livro da série Casos Arquivados.
