J. Ernesto da Fonseca

Joaquim Ernesto da Fonseca was born in 1933 in the Ribeirinho de Chão Barroso hill, near the Sorraia River; he spent his childhood and youth in the village of Fajarda where he received his primary education and began working in agriculture.
At the age of 21, he enrolled in the Artur Ravara Nursing School in Lisbon and, after completing the Nursing Course, began his career in the Lisbon Civil Hospitals; from 1960 to 1969 he worked as a nurse at the Diamond Company in Angola and upon returning from there he began teaching at the school where he graduated.
In 1973 he was appointed to oversee the opening of the newly created Santarém School of Nursing, where he remained as a professor until 1988, when he was appointed Director of Nursing at the Santarém Hospital, from which he retired in 1995.
Complementary studies undertaken throughout her career in the areas of Pedagogy, Service Administration, and Mental Health and Psychiatry, earned her a degree in "Specialized Higher Studies in Nursing".

Having started writing for publication while still attending the Nursing course, in the academic newsletter. "Ravara Virus", was editor of Nursing Journal From 1970 to 1973, he published several papers at professional meetings and conferences.
After retirement, in addition to contributing to some regional periodicals, he published some works related to his professional field, but it was essentially his time as President of the Parish Assembly of his hometown that sparked his interest in local publications, including some in the area of ​​poetry, and he is currently a member of the group. In 2018 he published the book "Memoirs of a Nurse from Here and Overseas", Modocromia publishing house.
