In This Moment

In This Moment is an American alternative metal band formed in 2005 in Los Angeles, California. Led by charismatic vocalist Maria Brink, the band is known for its combination of metalcore, hard rock, and industrial music elements, as well as its theatrical and aesthetically crafted performances that blend musical intensity and visual impact.

The band's original lineup included Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth, who quickly became the creative core of In This Moment. The band at the time was completed by bassist Jesse Landry, drummer Jeff Fabb and guitarist Blake Bunzel. After playing small clubs, they caught the attention of the label Century Media Records, with whom they released their debut album, Beautiful Tragedy (2007). This work stood out for the fusion of melodic and aggressive vocals, especially in themes such as "Prayers" and the title track.

In 2008, the band released The Dream, an album that brought a more melodic and accessible sound, with the single "Forever" gaining prominence. However, it was with Blood (2012) that In This Moment achieved great commercial and critical success. This album, featuring tracks such as "Blood" and "Whore", marked a shift in the band's sound, incorporating more industrial and electronic influences, as well as a theatrical visual aesthetic that came to define their live shows.

Subsequent albums, such as Black Widow (2014), Ritual (2017) and Mother (2020), cemented the band's position in the alternative metal scene. Ritual, for example, explored dark and spiritual themes, while Mother presented a more introspective approach, with covers such as "We Will Rock You" (Queen) and "Fly Like an Eagle" (Steve Miller Band), showcasing the band's versatility.

With Maria Brink as the central creative force, In This Moment continues to evolve musically, exploring new sonic and visual territories. Their unique blend of heaviness, melody and theatricality has made the band one of the most recognized and respected in contemporary metal. Brink's magnetic presence and the group's ability to reinvent their sound ensure In This Moment's place as a landmark name on the global music scene.
