Igor Stanislavovitch Prokopenko é um dos mais famosos jornalistas russos e autor de investigações científicas políticas e populares.
Na década de 1990 trabalhou como jornalista nos jornais Krasnaa Zvezda, Moskovski Komsomolets, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, entre outros, e como correspondente de guerra para os programas de informação Vremia, Segodnia e Vesti.
A partir de 1998, torna-se apresentador do programa Segredo Militar na REN TV2 e mais tarde assume o cargo de diretor-geral-adjunto da mesma cadeia televisiva para os programas socio-políticos e documentários.
