Hipócrates

Hipócrates (460 a.C. - 377 a.C.) é considerado, por muitos, o pai da medicina, fundador de uma ética médica, que se expressa no célebre Juramento de Hipócrates. As suas obras testemunham o repúdio da superstição e das práticas mágicas da "saúde" primitiva, permitindo-lhe elaborar uma concepção do homem distinta da religião e do sobrenatural. Antes dele, a prática médica, carecia de qualquer base científica. Doenças com causas insondáveis dão lugar a uma prática assente na observação do organismo humano integrado no seu meio ambiente.
