Pediatra e Neonatologista. Professora Catedrática de Pediatria da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP) até dezembro de 2019, sendo atualmente Professora Catedrática Aposentada. Foi Diretora do Serviço de Neonatologia do Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João, Diretora do Departamento de Pediatria da FMUP, Presidente da Sociedade Portuguesa de Neonatologia, Presidente da Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies (UENPS) e Membro da Comissão Executiva da European Foundation for Care of the Newborn Infant (EFCNI), sendo atualmente seu Membro Honorário. Diretora do São João NIDCAP Training Center.
