Heleen van Royen é uma das mais conhecidas e infames autoras holandesas. Jornalista de formação académica, trabalhou para muitos jornais e revistas. Aquando da sua passagem pela rádio conheceu Ton, um famoso apresentador de televisão, com quem viria a casar. Têm dois filhos e há alguns anos decidiram comprar uma casa no sul de Portugal, em Alcantarilha, onde passam grande parte do ano.
