Formado em Teologia na Universidade Católica e em Jornalismo da Universidade do Porto. Começou o percurso televisivo na RTP em 2000. Autor de três livros de poesia (Rostos do Mar, Gestação da Chuva e Branco); três contos infantis (Aldeia da Casa Magia e Lágrima Chamada Sal, e Clara a Menina das Cores; dois livros de pequenas histórias de Portugal (Lendas e Mitos de Portugal e Nação Valente). A par da televisão e da escrita, Hélder Reis é agricultor na sua empresa Valle das Corujas, em Mirandela.
