Hans Jørgen Sandnes faz ilustrações para livros e desenhos animados. Fez também ilustrações para o A avó e as oito crianças, de Anne-Cath. Vestly, e para a edição comemorativa do Circo Mikkeliksi, de Alf Prøysen. Hans Jørgen desenha desde criança e fez os seus primeiros desenhos animados quando tinha 10 anos. Às vezes, também dá cursos, nos quais as crianças podem aprender a fazer os seus próprios filmes de animação.
