Hannah Tinti cresceu em Salem, Massachusetts. A sua colectânea de contos, Animais Sortidos, já publicada pela ASA, foi traduzida em dezasseis países e finalista do PEN/Hemingway Award. É co-fundadora e editora-chefe da revista One Story, pela qual ganhou em 2009 o PEN/Nora Magid Award de excelência editorial. O Bom Ladrão foi considerado um dos melhores livros do ano pelo The Washington Post, The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle e Kirkus Reviews. Foi também galardoado em 2009 com o John Sargent Sr. First Novel Prize e o Alex Award da American Library Association.
