Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer is a unique figure in Castilian Romanticism.
He lived a short life: he was born in Seville in February 1836 and died in Madrid, before reaching the age of thirty-five, in December 1870. His work is also not extensive, almost limited to a volume of poems, published under the title "Rimas" (Rhymes), which has been translated into Portuguese as "Lendas" (Legends), published by Assírio, and two small collections of essays written in epistolary form, "Desde mi celda" (From My Cell) and "Cartas literarias a una mujer" (Literary Letters to a Woman).
