«Um caçador que trabalha como escritor». É assim que se define Guillermo Arriaga, nascido em 1958 na Cidade do México. O autor alcançou a fama mundial assinando o argumento do filme Amor Cão, vencedor do Grande Prémio de Crítica do Festival de Cannes.
É ainda o autor dos argumentos dos filmes 21 Gramas (galardoado em inúmeros festivais), The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, realizado por Tommy Lee Jones (Palma de Ouro em Cannes), Un dulce olor a muerte e, mais recentemente, Babel, vencedor de três prémios no Festival de Cannes de 2006 e nomeado para sete Globos de Ouro.
Deste autor, o romance Esquadrão Guilhotina publicado pela Oficina do Livro, que muito se orgulha de apresentar Guillermo Arriaga ao público leitor português.
