Guido van Genechten nasceu em 1957 em Mol, na Bélgica. Estudou pintura, design e fotografia na Academia de Belas Artes. Trabalhou como designer durante vários anos, até que iniciou uma carreira cheia de sucesso no mundo da ilustração de livros infantis. Ganhou vários prémios de ilustração, e os seus livros têm sido campeões de vendas do segmento infantil em mais de 18 línguas.
