Nascido em 1955, em Adria, Itália, Guido Barbujani é, desde 1996, professor de Genética na Universidade de Ferrara. Anteriormente lecionou na Universidade Estadual de Nova Iorque, bem como nas universidades de Londres, Pádua e Bolonha.
Especialista nas questões das origens e da evolução da população humana, publicou mais de 150 artigo de investigação em revistas científicas, além de diversos livros como autor e coautor.
Pioneiro na análise comparativa da diversidade genética e linguística evolutiva, incide os seus estudos na evolução humana, sendo defensor da inutilidade do conceito de raça para fornecer informações sobre a diversidade biológica humana.
