O Padre Gonçalo Nuno Ary Portocarrero de Almada nasceu em Haia, Holanda, em 1958, sendo os seus pais e quatro avós de Lisboa, onde também casaram todos os seus bisavós. Licenciou-se em Direito na Universidade de Madrid (Complutense) e doutorou-se em Filosofia pela Universidade Pontifícia da Santa Cruz, em Roma. É, desde 1986, sacerdote da prelatura do Opus Dei. Capelão de várias instituições educativas, colabora regularmente em diversos jornais nacionais. É autor, entre outras obras, de A Igreja e a vida (Diel, 2004), Crítica da razão dialéctica de Aristóteles (INCM, 2006), Os defeitos de Maria (Lucerna, 2007), Porque não, com Pedro Vaz Patto (Alêtheia, 2009), Via Sacra (Verbo, 2010), Histórias e Morais (Alêtheia, 2011), e de, com Zita Seabra, Auto-de-fé (Alêtheia, 2012) e As Palavras da Palavra (Alêtheia, 2013).
