Giuseppe Marcocci é professor de História Moderna na Università degli Studi della Tuscia, em Viterbo (Itália) e coordenador do projeto de investigação Beyond the Holly War, na Scuola Normale Superior, em Pisa (Itália) . A sua área de pesquisa central é a história política, cultural e religiosa do mundo ibérico, com especial atenção sobre o caso português entre os séculos XV e XVIII. Entre outros estudos, é autor de A consciência de um império: Portugal e o seu mundo, sécs. XV a XVII (Coimbra 2012).
