Gilbert Durand (1921–2012) foi um filósofo francês. Discípulo de Bachelard, dedicou o seu pensamento ao estudo da mitologia e dos símbolos e à reabilitação da imaginação. Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, lutou na Resistência Francesa. Foi professor de Antropologia e Sociologia na Universidade de Grenoble e, em 1966, fundou o Centre de Recherche sur l’Imaginaire. Recebeu o título Doutor Honoris Causa pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
