Gérard Oberlé

Gérard Oberlé was born in Alsace in 1945. As a teenager, he lived with the Jesuits in Freiburg, Switzerland. After studying classical literature in Strasbourg and at the Sorbonne, he became an assistant teacher of Latin and Greek in Metz. His career as a Latin-Greek teacher was prematurely ended by throwing an inkwell at the academy official in charge of inspecting it.
Gérard Oberlé has lived in southern Morvan since 1976, regularly fleeing to Egypt, Arizona, or Syria. A novelist, he posted: Nil Rouge (Folio, 2000) Pallas Pear (Le Cherche-Midi, 2000) Canyon Palomas (Le Cherche-Midi, 2002), his musical chronicles (La Vie est un tango, Flammarion) and an unclassifiable book, Salami! (Atos Sud, 2002) and Return to Zornhof (Grasset, 2004).
He is also a columnist for France-Musiques and Lire.
