Garrett Mcnamara detém o recorde do Guinness por ter surfado a maior onda de sempre, além de acumular vitórias em diferentes competições de surf em todo o mundo. Foi o primeiro estrangeiro a receber a prestigiada condecoração Medalha Naval Vasco da Gama, atribuída pelo estado português. McNamara vive entre o Havai e Portugal, embora viaje regularmente pelo planeta com a família nas suas aventuras de exploração.
