Gabrielle Walker é uma autoridade consideravelmente importante neste tópico, tem um doutoramento em química, foi editora de alterações climáticas da revista Nature, escreve e participa em programas sobre este tema há mais de uma década. Apresentou uma importante série de programas de rádio para a BBC e também participou num debate com Sir David King num programa informativo desta rádio. É editora de artigos de fundo na New Scientist, premiada em mais de 60 artigos. Também foi professora convidada na Universidade de Princeton.
O seu primeiro livro, Snowball Earth foi descrito pela Publishers Weekly como "um livro importante e provocante que é um prazer ler". O seu segundo livro, An Ocean of Air: A Natural History of the Atmosphere será publicado na Primavera de 2007.
