Gabriele Clima nasceu em Milão, em 1967. Escritor e ilustrador de livros infantis, publicou uma grande diversidade de obras para várias faixas etárias, desde a primeira infância aos romances para jovens adultos. É presença assídua em escolas, onde realiza sessões sobre a leitura e a escrita, propondo sempre a literatura infantojuvenil como uma poderosa ferramenta para compreender a realidade atual. Os seus livros, traduzidos em cerca de 15 línguas, abordam frequentemente temáticas de cariz social, como a pobreza, a diversidade, a integração ou a imigração. A sua obra Il sole fra le dita foi distinguida, em 2017, com o Prémio Andersen (da revista italiana homónima sobre literatura infantojuvenil) na categoria «Melhor livro para mais de 15 anos»; a mesma obra integra ainda a seleção do IBBY dos 50 melhores livros do mundo sobre deficiência.
