Frederico Pereira
Born in France on February 11, 1982, to Portuguese parents, he lived there until he was 12 years old. Even as a child, he developed a taste for poetry due to works such as Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. While still young, he returned to Lisbon with his mother.
In Portugal, he was influenced by authors such as Almeida Garrett, Eça de Queirós, Florbela Espanca, and Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage. His first poem, "Criança" (2009), published in the reader's section of Destak newspaper, stemmed from a discussion with a friend about a poem published in the same newspaper. His friend simply replied that he should "do better," and so he did, turning it into a hobby. Meanwhile, as a working student, he graduated in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from the Autonomous University of Lisbon, but had no chance of entering the profession due to the crises and antagonisms within the government.
He continued writing and publishing, expanding his hobby to photography, and also began sending poems to the Metro newspaper. In 2011, with a poem in English, he won a contest organized by the St. Petersburg Metro, aimed at European countries where the "Metro newspaper" existed, thus defeating 2,000 other candidates from the European Union.
In 2016, influenced by a friend, she published her first book based on her life principles, "Small Thoughts - Hope, Determination, Dreams and Love".
She currently works at the Lisbon Central Hospital Centre, Curry Cabral branch, as an operational assistant, which has obviously had some impact on her writing.
