Dixon foi Leslie McFarlane, um autor canadiano que criou 19 dos primeiros 25 títulos da coleção. Entre os escritores e escritoras que adotaram o pseudónimo contam-se ainda Christopher Lampton, John Button, Amy McFarlane e Harriet Stratemeyer Adams.
