Frank Quitely
Frank Quitely is a Scottish comic book artist, known for his frequent collaborations with Grant Morrison on titles such as New X-Men, WE3, All-Star Superman and Batman and Robin, as well as for his work with Mark Millar on The Authority and Jupiter's Legacy.
Frank Quitely spent the first three years of his career as a comic book creator working on the Scottish adult humor anthology Electric Soup, an independent publication, where he learned the basics of writing, drawing and subtitling, in his own regular black and white strip, The Greens. After leaving writing, he spent two more years painting the futuristic western Missionary Man and the Japanese science fiction series Shimura, both for the popular British title Judge Dredd Megazine.
Over the next five years, he worked primarily for DC Comics, and produced ten black-and-white strips for Paradox Press's The Big Books, six short stories, and two mini-series for Vertigo, including Flex Mentallo, as well as a set of loose issues, graphic novels, and regular series for the DC universe and Wildstorm. including Batman, JLA, and The Authority.
After illustrating The New X-Men for two years for Marvel, he returned to Vertigo and produced a short film for a Sandman anthology, as well as a series he co-created, WE3. Titles such as All-Star Superman, Batman and Robin, New Gods and Pax Americana followed, all for DC Comics. When he's not painting digitally or working on projects for small labels, he occasionally creates characters for animation, or design and art for CD covers and posters. He has already completed the second volume of Jupiter's Legacy and is working on the third volume, and has a number of personal projects on the way.
