Francisco Teixeira da Mota nasceu em Lisboa, em 1954. É licenciado pela Faculdade de Direito pela Universidade de Lisboa e pós-graduado pelo Instituto da Comunicação Social, na Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Coimbra.
Colaborador de O Independente, é colunista do jornal Público desde a sua fundação e foi co-autor, com Paula Moura Pinheiro, de "Falatório", programa semanal da RTP 2 dedicado à justiça.
É autor das obras Escrever Direito, que reúne crónicas de temática jurídica, e de Lisboa de Alves Reis.
