Francisco Conduto de Pina
Francisco Conduto de Pina (born 1957 in Bubaque, Guinea-Bissau), poet and politician, has held positions throughout his career such as Director General of Tourism, Secretary of State for Tourism, Minister of Tourism, Minister of Tourism and Territorial Planning, and Secretary of State for Youth, Culture and Sports of Guinea-Bissau. He was a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 2014, and again from 2019 to 2024, representing the PAIGC liberation party, and was a member of its Political Bureau and Central Committee. In addition to being a member of various specialized commissions over the years, he helped found UNAE (National Union of Artists and Writers) in 1982, of which he is currently the National Secretary. He is also a founding member of AEGUI (Association of Writers of Guinea-Bissau). A member of several NGOs, he is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Scout Corps and co-founder of [unclear - likely an organization name]. Lions Club International from Bissau. As a writer, he debuted in 1978 with the work Garandessa di no tchon, becoming the first Guinean to have an individual publication. This was followed by the works The Silence of the Seagulls (1997), (Camões Institute, Portuguese Cultural Center, Bissau); and Suspended Words (published by Thesaurus, 2012, Brazil). She participated in the first anthology of poetry in Creole. Kebur (1996), in the anthology barkafon di poesia na Kriol, INEP, Bissau, (1991). and in the first anthology Echo of weeping (1992). He also participated, alongside other Lusophone poets, in the project Portuguesia: Minas Gerais among peoples of the same language, anthropology of a poetics (Brazil), created in 2008 by the poet Wilmar Silva and sponsored by Usiminas with institutional support from the CPLP - Community of Portuguese Language Countries. His poems have been published in various national and international magazines and newspapers, mainly in cultural magazines in Guinea-Bissau, Brazil, and Portugal. Some of his poetic texts have been translated into Russian as part of a collection of African poets.
