Fiona Melrose nasceu em Joanesburgo, África do Sul. Depois de viver em Joanesburgo e Londres por muitos anos e explorar carreiras na academia e outras pesquisas, muda-se para Suffolk para escrever e concluir um mestrado em Escrita Criativa em Birkbeck, Universidade de Londres. O seu primeiro romance, MIDWINTER, (Little, Brown, Nov 2016) é passado em Suffolk.
Fiona voltou recentemente a Joanesburgo, cenário para o seu segundo romance, com uma narrativa circadiana, baseada na Sra. Dalloway de Virginia Woolf e ambientada no dia em que Nelson Mandela morreu.
