Filomena Vasconcelos é natural do Porto e professora de Literatura Inglesa e Teoria da Literatura da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto. Tem leccionado e dirigido a sua investigação nas áreas do pensamento da linguagem e da poética ocidental, bem como na Literatura Inglesa dos séculos XIX e XX.
Actualmente, integra o grupo de trabalho de tradução da obra dramática de Shakespeare, no âmbito da Unidade de Investigação de Estudos Ingleses da FCT, sediada na FLUP, tendo já publicado "Ricardo II" (Campo das Letras, 2002) e encontrando-se em fase de preparação de "O Conto de Inverno" e "Romeu e Julieta".
