Filinto Elísio

Pseudónimo arcádico do Pe. Francisco Manuel do Nascimento. Nasceu em 1734, em Lisboa, e morreu em 1819, em Paris. As suas Obras Completas (1817-1819) foram publicadas na capital francesa, onde se tinha fixado por ter sido denunciado à Inquisição devido às suas ideias liberais. Na sua poesia encontram-se os géneros clássicos, como odes, cartas, epigramas e epinícios. Filinto traduziu Chateaubriand, Lamartine, Horácio, La Fontaine e as Lettres Portugaises atribuídas a Mariana Alcoforado. Algumas destas traduções viriam a ser influentes ao longo do século XIX.
