É licenciado em Engenharia Electrotécnica pelo Instituto Superior Técnico. Desenvolveu diversos sistemas de CAD em Linux, nos projectos CAD/CAM do INESC. Começou a utilizar o Linux em 1992. Leccionou diversos cursos de formação sobre UNIX e programação. Actualmente é assistente no departamento de Engenharia Electrotécnica e Automação do Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, onde lecciona as cadeiras de Programação de Computadores e Cálculo Numérico.
