Fernando José de Almeida Catroga é professor catedrático da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra. Tem uma vasta obra publicada no domínio da história política e cultural, de onde se destacam os seus livros mais recentes: O Republicanismo em Portugal.
