Fernanda Pirie é antropóloga especializada em sociedades tibetanas e professora de Antropologia Jurídica na Universidade de Oxford. Durante 15 meses estudou a forma de organização, os hábitos e regras de uma das aldeias mais remotas de Ladakh, nos Himalaias. Desde então, tem passado vários anos a investigar os sistemas legais da História humana, comparando-os e registando a sua influência no mundo moderno.
