Fátima Mariano nasceu em Lisboa, em 1975. Licenciada em Ciências da Comunicação, mestre e doutora em História Contemporânea, é jornalista desde 1997 e investigadora do Instituto de História Contemporânea da NOVA FCSH desde 2011. Trabalhou como jornalista no Diário de Notícias e no Jornal de Notícias. Em maio de 2018, fundou o jornal digital Os Bichos. Ganhou por duas vezes o Prémio de Jornalismo do Hospital Veterinário Montenegro (2011 e 2012) e o Prémio da Comissão Nacional para as Comemorações do Centenário da República - Programa de edição de tese e dissertações (2011). É autora dos livros As Mulheres e a I República e Grandes Figuras Excêntricas da História de Portugal (Contraponto, 2022).
