Farida Khalaf tem 19 anos e pertence à minoria étnico-religiosa iazidi. Após meses de cativeiro às mãos do autoproclamado Estado Islâmico, conseguiu fugir.
A violência a que foi sujeita deixou marcas psicológicas e físicas que nunca se extinguirão. Mas a jovem enfrenta agora uma nova batalha: o estigma da violação.
Na comunidade iazidi - profundamente tradicional - uma mulher violada é ostracizada, algo que Farida está preparada para aceitar. O que ela não aceita é o silêncio imposto às vítimas, a vergonha que lhes tolhe os movimentos e o futuro. Por isso, Farida fala - em seu nome e no de todas as mulheres vítimas deste crime de guerra que é ainda um tabu penalizador.
Atualmente, vive como refugiada na Alemanha.
