F.-A. Paradis de Moncrif

François-Augustin de Paradis de Moncrif (1687–1770) nasceu em Paris, oriundo de uma família escocesa. Foi um exemplo acabado de homem da sociedade do século XVIII, com o seu espírito, o seu charme e o seu humor, capazes de conquistar qualquer salão. Homem de múltiplos talentos, foi requisitado pelos círculos aristocráticos. Luís XV nomeou-o cronista real, e a proteção da Casa de Orleães garantiu-lhe a entrada na Academia Francesa, algo que não foi bem aceite pelos pares.
