Estelle Maskame nasceu em 1997 e vive numa pequena cidade no norte da Escócia. Começou a escrever o seu primeiro livro, Já te disse que te amo?, publicado pela Editorial Presença, quando tinha apenas treze anos e publicou-o no Wattpad, uma plataforma de escrita online, onde rapidamente reuniu um grande grupo de leitores dedicados. Aos 16 anos, concluiu esta trilogia que entretanto já teve mais de 4 milhões de leituras online. Estelle tem, neste momento, cerca de 170 000 seguidores no Twitter (incluindo o cantor Justin Bieber...). A autora venceu o Young Scot of the Year Award 2016 na categoria de Artes e foi nomeada para os prémios Young Adult Romantic Novel e Romantic Novel of the Year pela Romantic Novelists' Association.
