Émile Faguet
Émile Faguet (1847-1916), a French literary critic and moralist, was an important contributor to French magazines and newspapers where he wrote about history, literature, and philosophy. Extremely cultured, possessing subtlety and a keen critical spirit, in his work Politicians and Moralists of the 19th century, he also reveals himself as a fine psychologist. His vast body of work deals mainly with literary criticism and history of authors such as Voltaire, Flaubert, Rousseau, and Nietzsche, but his interest in the history of ideas led him to write several books on philosophy and politics.
