Edwin Lefevre nasceu em 1871. Estudou Engenharia Geológica e Minas, mas aos 19 anos tornou-se jornalista e começou a negociar em bolsa, interessando-se profundamente por investimentos. Mas foi a sua carreira de escritor que lhe deu maior notoriedade. Escreveu 8 livros mas foi a biografia de Jesse Livermore, um dos maiores especuladores de Wall Street de todos os tempos, Reminiscências de um Especulador Financeiro, publicado em 1923, que lhe deu notoriedade e relevância mundial. Este bestseller tem inúmeras traduções e é referência para investidores em todo o mundo.
