Nasceu em Guiães do Douro, Vila Real, em 23 de setembro de 1949.
É arquiteto.
Foi docente do Ensino Técnico-Profissional e Quadro Superior da Portugal Telecom.
Prestou Serviço Militar em Angola de 1971 a 1973, como Furriel Miliciano, na Companhia de Comandos e Serviços do Centro de Instrução de Comandos, em Luanda.
Condecorado com as medalhas Comemorativa das Campanhas de Angola e de Defesa Nacional de 2º Classe.
Cronista do semanário A Voz de Trás-os-Montes e atualmente Vogal da Direção Central da Liga dos Combatentes.
