Eduardo Paz Ferreira

Eduardo Paz Ferreira, a European citizen born in the Azores, the region furthest from the center of Europe, has always been a staunch Europeanist who has dedicated a significant part of his professional and academic life to European issues. At the age of 23, he headed the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the First Constitutional Government, Medeiros Ferreira, and in that capacity, participated in many of the bilateral talks prior to the submission of the accession application. A Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, he is Dean of the Group of Legal-Economic Sciences and a member of the University's General Council. He chairs the European Institute and the Institute of Economic, Financial and Tax Law, where he has promoted numerous initiatives on European issues. He has also published several articles and books on these subjects. He is a Jean Monnet Chair, a distinction granted by the European Commission.
