Édouard Schuré (1841-1929) nasceu em Estrasburgo. Foi um importante esoterista, musicólogo e romancista, autor de peças de teatro, obras históricas, poesia e trata dos filosóficos no final do século XIX e início do século XX. Por intermédio dos estudos esotéricos das religiões, tornou-se um escritor crucial para todos aqueles que anseiam por textos com plexos, ricos em conteúdo e estimulantes para o espírito. Tornou-se mundialmente conhecido com a sua obra História Oculta do Mundo (no original: Les Grands Initiés: Esquisse de l’histoire secrète des religions), que vem sendo continuamente impressa em várias línguas.
