Édouard Brasey, romancista, é um eminente estudioso de contos e de lendas nórdicos, bem como dos mundos imaginários das fadas e de fantasia, aos quais ele dedicou mais de quarenta obras. Os seus últimos títulos tiveram um enorme sucesso junto do público, sobretudo La Petite Encyclopédie du Merveilleux, que arrecadou vários prémios em 2006. Com esta tetralogia, e segundo a conceituada SF Magazine, Brasey atinge «o mais alto nível do fantástico francês».
