David Reich, professor de genética na Harvard Medical School e investigador do Howard Hughes Medical Institute, nos EUA, é um dos pioneiros no estudo do ADN humano antigo à escala global. Foi considerado pela revista Nature uma das dez pessoas importantes na ciência. Recebeu o Prémio Dan David em Ciências Arqueológicas e Naturais e a Medalha Darwin-Wallace pelas suas descobertas, incluindo a do cruzamento entre Neandertais e Homo sapiens.
