Craig Russell was born in Scotland and has worked as a police officer, advertising executive, and creative director. He is the author of the bestselling Jan Fabel series, set in Hamburg and published in twenty-three languages. In 2007, he received the prestigious Polizeistern (Police Star) from the Hamburg police, becoming the only non-German citizen to receive it. In 2008, he won the CWA Duncan Lawrie Golden Dagger, the highest literary award for crime authors. He lives in Perthshire with his wife and two children.
