Christiane Pieper (Alemanha, 1962) começou por estudar psicologia em Giessen, tendo depois mudado para comunicação visual em Kassel e Düsseldorf. O seu primeiro livro enquanto ilustradora foi publicado em 1993 pela editora Peter Hammer (Alemanha).
Até hoje já ilustrou cerca de 40 livros infantis com vários estilos e técnicas, recorrendo ora ao preto e branco ora a pinceladas impressionistas e a pinturas em acrílico. Entre outros galardões, recebeu o Prémio de Álbum Ilustrado de Troisdorf. Desde 1993 que vive e trabalha em Wuppertal como ilustradora para editoras na Alemanha, na Europa e na Índia. A sua obra esteve exposta em países europeus, asiáticos e africanos. "Sem rumo pelo mundo, Catarina e o Urso" foi o primeiro livro de sua completa autoria.
