Christiana Figueres, nascida em 1956 em San José, na Costa Rica, é uma autoridade a nível mundial nas alterações climáticas globais. Foi secretária executiva da Convenção-Quadro das Nações Unidas sobre Alterações Climáticas entre 2010 e 2016. Assumindo a mais alta responsabilidade pelas negociações logo a seguir ao fracasso da Conferência de Copenhaga sobre alterações climáticas de 2009, Christiana recusou-se a aceitar a impossibilidade de um acordo global. Com Tom Rivett-Carnac, fundou a Global Optimism Ltd., uma organização que se dedica a promover a mudança social e ambiental. Impulsionadora do projeto Mission 2020, é copresidente da coligação internacional de cidades Global Covenant of Mayors.
